Engadget-CyanogenMod 10 preview build now available for Verizon's Galaxy Nexus

Engadget ? We know it didn't take much time for the Tenth iteration of that CM greatness to reach Google's popular Nexus 7 and Samsung's most colossal Galaxy handset on the block, but one other Android big shot was still yet to join the "preview build" bash. The marvelous news is Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners can now also take part in the early adoption process, as CyanogenMod's Brint Kriebel has said via Mountain View's social network that CM10 for Big Red's GNex is out and up for grabs. That said, he's let it be known the goods aren't exactly fully baked, though he has been rockin' it as his "daily driver" for about two weeks -- which, needless to say, is quite a good sign. Those interested in going a step further can hit up bekit's Google+ page, where you'll find the rest of the underlying ...More details. ~ Filed under: Cellphones, Software ~ CyanogenMod 10 preview build now available for Verizon's Galaxy Nexus originally appeared on Engadget on Sun, 29 Jul 2012 07:37:00 EDT. Paying Too Much For Auto Insurance? Check Out These Tips ...

Before you rent a car and accept car rental insurance, check out what kind of coverage you have with your regular insurance. This is a great way to save money and you may actually end up with better coverage.

Pay attention to the rate of theft for your model of car. Many of the top-stolen cars in the United States are more than ten years old, so even if you have an older model, you may still want to keep your comprehensive coverage. However, if you drive an older car that isn?t at risk for theft, comprehensive is probably an unneeded expense.

If you have a car that is considered to be a classic or special model, you may want to consider joining an auto club that is related to your vehicle. Many auto clubs offer insurance discounts that could end up saving you thousands of dollars a year, while also having reliable and trustworthy car insurance.

To keep auto insurance from increasing be sure to obey the traffic laws to avoid traffic violations because violations on your record will drive up insurance costs. If a driving record is clean for at least three years, your auto insurance will not increase, and with a lot of auto insurance companies, your premium may decrease for having such a good driving history.

Careful, some auto insurance policies do not cover damage done while you are driving other motor vehicles, such as motorcycles, four wheelers, snowmobiles, or jet skis. Be sure to check your policy to see whether these vehicles are covered before you decide to ride on one, or at the very least, make sure that your health insurance provides coverage to you.

Be a safe driver. This one might seem simple, but it is very important. Safer drivers have lower premiums. The longer you remain a safe driver, the better the deals are that you will get on your car insurance. Driving safe is also, obviously, a lot better than the alternative.

Before you call your insurance company to change your car insurance policy, remember to check with your financier. Many auto loans come with certain insurance requirements. It is all too easy to overlook these requirements when you go bargain-hunting. If you do, an insurance claim may end up landing you in hot water with the financier holding the note on your car.

Check for blemishes on your driving record. Infractions on your record can affect your auto insurance rates, and it is possible that there is old or incorrect information on yours. Knowing what?s on your driving record before you seek out insurance will let you know what you need to deal with ahead of time.

When looking at liability coverage for your insurance, you should consider how many assets you have. This is important because if you have a lot of personal assets and you are at fault in an accident, then the lawyer from the other party may go after your personal assets to cover all the other necessary bills for the other party.

Every year when your automotive insurance is up for renewal, shop around to check that the premium being paid is still market competitive. There are an abundance of internet facilities available where you can enter the vehicle details online and immediately receive insurance quotes from various companies. This will confirm or deny that your current premium is realistic.

As the beginning of this article stated, choosing the right auto insurance company or plan is an extremely difficult decision. However, if you have a good sense of where to look and what information you need, the process becomes much easier. Use this article to help you select your auto insurance.

For the very best collision repair springfield mo make sure you be methodical and choose the best company for you.

Delta shuts down Comair; workers given notice

(AP) ? Delta Air Lines is shutting down its shrunken, 35-year-old regional carrier Comair at the end of September as it switches to bigger jets and it is sending termination notices to its 1,700 remaining employees.

Comair is down to 290 flights a day. More than 1,000 Comair employees are in the Cincinnati and northern Kentucky region, some 700 of those in Kentucky.

Comair has slashed its fleet, flights and workforce in the last seven years. Delta said the smaller regional planes are expensive to fly because they are not as fuel-efficient and cost more to maintain as the fleet ages.

"We just really couldn't get the cost structure to where we wanted to get it," said Don Bornhorst, senior vice president of Delta Connection and a former Comair president. "It ultimately was a cost issue; it wasn't a quality issue with Comair. They're a good airline, great employees, very innovative ... we just could not solve the cost issues."

Delta, based in Atlanta, had about 500 of the 50-seat regional jets in 2008 and plans to reduce that to 125 within two years. Most of that flying will be done by new 76-seat jets as well as the 117-seat Boeing 717sthat Delta is leasing from Southwest Airlines.

Delta said Friday that it has stopped flying 16 of the remaining Comair 50-seaters, and will lease the carrier's other 28 planes to other operators. Bornhorst said employees have 60-day termination notices. A small group of employees will remain after the Sept. 29 shutdown to handle details of the closure.

Comair handles only about 1 percent of Delta's flying, so the closure won't result in significant changes to Delta's network. Delta also said it won't mean fewer flights out of Comair's base at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Besides Cincinnati, Comair also has hubs in Detroit and at New York's JFK and LaGuardia airports.

Comair was founded in 1977, flying three propeller-driven Piper Navajo aircraft. It started operating as Delta Connection in 1984 and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta in 2000. Comair helped expand the regional jet business when it began flying Bombardier CRJ jets.

"As you can imagine, we're all very sad," said Lynn Dziad, spokeswoman for the Teamsters local that represents more than 400 flight attendants. She marked her 22nd anniversary with Comair just last week. "It's been a wonderful company. A lot of incredible people have worked here."

Kentucky's governor, Steve Beshear, said the Delta action is a blow to the region because of the job losses, and the Democrat called it "terribly disappointing." Kentucky will try to help affected workers, he said in a statement.

"Today's announcement is sad news for Cincinnati, as 300 southwest Ohio families will be looking for new opportunities as Comair ceases operations," Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, a Republican from the Cincinnati area, said in a statement. He said he has pressed Delta to offer opportunities for impacted workers. He added that Delta has committed to keeping up its Cincinnati area schedule, "which is important for Cincinnati's business community as they look for opportunities to grow and build their businesses across the nation and the world."

Aviation analyst Mike Boyd of The Boyd Group said he expected the Comair shutdown, because the regional airline business doesn't work anymore.

"It's not going to turn around," Boyd said. "Delta is quite correctly saying 'We've got to get rid of these uneconomic airlines.' "

Before entering bankruptcy protection in September 2005, Comair had more than 7,000 employees and 1,160 flights. Comair and Delta emerged from bankruptcy reorganization in April 2007.

Forty-nine people were killed when Comair Flight 5191 crashed on Aug. 27, 2006 in a field near Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, Ky., after trying to take off from a runway that was too short for commercial jets. The National Transportation Safety Board found the pilots failed to notice they were on the wrong runway.

Delta had talked to prospective buyers for Comair, without success. It sold its other regional airlines ? Compass and Mesaba ? in 2010. Those carriers still operate flights for Delta, as do several other companies.

Shares of Delta Air Lines Inc. rose 3 cents to $9.44 in afternoon trading Friday.

Draghi: ECB to do "whatever it takes" to save euro

FILE - In this July 5, 2012 file photo President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi speaks during a news conference in Frankfurt, central Germany. Draghi said in an interview with French daily Le Monde posted on the bank's website Saturday, July 21, 2012, that predictions of a eurozone "explosion" underestimate "the political capital that our leaders have invested in this union, as well as the support of European citizens." Draghi said in an interview with French daily Le Monde posted on the bank's website Saturday, July 21, 2012, that predictions of a eurozone "explosion" underestimate "the political capital that our leaders have invested in this union, as well as the support of European citizens." (AP Photo/dapd, Mario Vedder, File)

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) ? European Central Bank President Mario Draghi promised Thursday to do whatever it takes to save the European single currency and raised expectations that he could step in to lower the high borrowing costs that are crippling countries like Spain and Italy.

Draghi told an audience of business leaders in London that the ECB would "do whatever it takes to preserve the euro" and added, "believe me, it will be enough."

The remarks were made during a question-and-answer session at an international investment conference organized by the U.K. government to mark the start of the London 2012 Olympics.

While Draghi was not clear about how or when ? or even if ? he would act, his comments soothed European financial markets. Analysts said any relief could prove temporary, however, if his words aren't followed up with action.

Fears about the 17 countries that use the euro have intensified over the past few weeks as evidence builds that economies across the region face deepening recessions. Spain and Italy, in particular, are finding it increasingly expensive to raise money on the debt markets due to spiraling borrowing costs. Investors are losing confidence that the countries will be able to control their debt while they are in recession.

Spain's bond interest rates, or yields, have hit record highs recently as it struggles to prop up its stricken banking sector and meet requests for financial aid from its regional governments. That has raised fears the country may be the next to seek a bailout from the other eurozone countries, following Ireland, Greece, Portugal and Cyprus.

Spain's economy ? the eurozone's fourth largest ? is much bigger than the other four countries combined and would strain the region's bailout funds.

Also during the question-and-answer session, Draghi discussed the high borrowing costs, or risk premiums, being imposed on some countries' bonds. Using precise, technical terms, he said the bank could react against high bond yields if they interfered with its benchmark interest rate policy ? the main tool in steering the eurozone economy and keeping inflation down

"To the extent that the size of these sovereign premia hamper the functioning of the monetary policy transmission channel, they come within our mandate," he said.

Stocks across Europe rose on Draghi's comments. Britain's FTSE traded up 1.4 percent, Germany's DAX index rose 2.75 percent and France's CAC 40 rose 4 percent. Spain's main IBEX stock index rose 6 percent while the interest rate on its 10-year bond ? a main indicator of market confidence in a country ? dropped 0.5 per cent to 6.89 percent. Italy saw a 5.4 percent rise in its stock prices and a 0.3 percent fall in its bond price to 6.07 percent.

Draghi did not say what the ECB might do to help lower high bond yields ? but he left markets with the impression that some kind of action was possible. He warned that the bank would stay within the legal restrictions imposed by the European Union treaty that forbid it from directly helping governments.

The ECB has used similar reasoning before to make limited purchases of government bonds to drive down a country's borrowing costs. Starting in May 2010 the bank carried out a limited bond purchase program and accumulated over ?200 billion in bonds. But it had little effect on bond yields, and the program has not been used for several months ? in spite of pleas from Spain for help.

The pressure is on the ECB to act because it is the eurozone's chief crisis-fighter.

The eurozone's current bailout fund, the European Financial Stability Facility, does have some ?440 billion in lending power, but most of that is already committed to bailouts for Greece, Ireland and Portugal. A new, permanent, fund ? the European Stability Mechanism ? would have some ?500 billion, but has yet to ratified by eurozone member countries and even then is months from coming on line. And ?100 billion of that is already committed to rescuing Spanish banks from collapsing due to bad real estate loans.

In attempts to take pressure off the eurozone's economy, the ECB this year has already cut its main interest rate to a record low of 0.75 percent It has also loaned ?1 trillion in cheap money to banks in December and February, a move that steadied banks and calmed markets for a few weeks. Banks used some of this money to buy government bonds and that temporarily lowered countries' borrowing costs.

Draghi's remarks looked like a "strong hint" that the bank was considering reviving the bond purchases, said Jonathan Loynes of Capital Economics in London. But he doubted the bank would make any large scale purchases, "given the program's previous lack of activity."

"Indeed, the ECB may even be hoping ? rather optimistically ? that even the mere threat of action will be sufficient."

Any effort that appears to bail out governments, however, remains deeply controversial.

Many officials and economists, particularly in Germany, are wary of anything that resembles violating the European Union treaty's ban on financing governments. They are also concerned that rescue efforts from the central bank will simply take pressure off politicians in indebted countries from cutting spending and reforming labor markets.

The May 2010 effort to buy government bonds continued on-and-off until it was put on hold this March. It was criticized at launch by the then-head of Germany's Bundesbank, and member of the ECB governing board, Axel Weber. This criticism undermined any impression that everyone at ECB was fully behind the action. The bank also stressed that the purchases were limited, further curbing their impact on the bond market.

Another thorny problem is the terms the ECB insists on when it buys bonds. Earlier this year, when Greece was negotiating a bond repurchase program to avoid a chaotic default on its debt, the ECB said it should be paid back in full for its Greek bond holdings. That meant even bigger writedowns for private sector creditors, who had to bear all the losses. Investors will not want a repeat of that when it comes to Spain.

Spanish spelling bee is estancamiento (a stalemate)

David Brise?o / Rio Rancho Public Schools

Co-champions Joana Fernandez and Judith Villa with their winners' plaques.

By Monica Olivera Hazelton and M. Alex Johnson, NBC News

Two star students battled it out for an hour and a half in Albuquerque, N.M., correctly spelling word after word, before judges threw up their hands and declared a tie in the National Spanish Spelling Bee last week.

Judith Villa, a fifth-grader from Sunland Park Elementary School in Anthony, N.M., and Joana Fernandez, an eighth-grader at Rio Rancho Middle School in the Rio Rancho, N.M., were the finalists after 17 other pupils from six other states fell by the wayside Saturday.

Judith and Joana?kept going, and going, and going ? for 53 more rounds. They polished off words like unguiculado (meaning "unguiculate"), cabizca?do ("downhearted") and vehementemente ("vehemently").

Eventually, the judges ran out of approved words and declared it a draw. Jose Daniel Lara Ar?valo of Legacy Middle School in San Antonio, Texas, finished third.

The contest, which is in its second year, tests children whose native language?is Spanish or who are learning the language.

Spanish words are relatively easier to spell than English words, because groups of letters consistently produce the same sounds and the vowels typically are pronounced the same way. But students must also?note Spanish diacritical marks, which makes the competition more challenging.

Romney jabs Obama on US policy toward Israel

(AP) ? Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says President Barack Obama's latest move to improve ties with Israel doesn't go far enough.

Obama is set to sign legislation Friday to expand military and civilian cooperation with Israel. The bill reiterates U.S. support for a negotiated two-state solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Republican's campaign says Romney is happy steps are being taken to enhance security cooperation with Israel. But that the bill "does nothing" to address whether Obama recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Obama's move comes one day before Romney visits Israel. Romney was scheduled to arrive in Jerusalem on Saturday as part of an overseas trip that includes stops in Britain and Poland.

Egypt's ex-leader Mubarak ordered back to prison

By NBC News and NBCNews.com news services

CAIRO, Egypt --?Egyptian officials told NBC News that?former president Hosni Mubarak would be moved back to prison on Monday,?saying an improvement in his health meant he no longer needed to stay in a military hospital.

Mubarak, sentenced to life in prison over the killing of protesters in the uprising that ended his rule, was moved from the medical wing of Tora prison to a hospital last month following reports of a deterioration in his health.

Mubarak was moved from prison to a military hospital in June after a health crisis. At the time, senior officers and military sources gave various accounts of the 84-year-old's condition, including that he was in a coma and on life support.

Egyptian Christians snub Clinton, claim US backs Islamists

Adel al-Saeed, the assistant prosecutor and spokesman for the prosecutor's office, said a medical committee formed to review Mubarak's condition had decided his health was stable enough that he did not need advanced hospital care.

Sentenced on June 2 for his failure to protect demonstrators, Mubarak has been portrayed as being in poor health by officials for the past year. He was wheeled in to court during his trial on a hospital stretcher.

Protesters in Alexandria, Egypt, throw shoes, tomatoes and a water bottle at the motorcade of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. NBC's Lester Holt reports.

According to AFP, Mubarak's health?deteriorated?after his transfer to the hospital,?with doctors defibrillating him twice in June. Reports also said he suffered from bouts of depression, high blood pressure and shortness of breath.

US role in post-Mubarak Egypt still unclear

Many Egyptians have been skeptical. Others suspect fellow officers, who pushed him aside to appease the protesters, of conniving to give him a more comfortable confinement.

Jetstar Japan to Take Delivery of 24 Airbus Aircraft in Next Three Years

Jetstar Japan has finalised arrangements with five lessors so it can purchase and lease 24 new Airbus A320 aircraft.

All of the aircraft, scheduled to be delivered to the airline in the next three years, have been sourced through the Qantas Group?s existing fleet orders, allowing access to early delivery slots.

The Tokyo-based low cost airline started its commercial flights on 3 July with three of the new Airbus A320 aircraft configured for 180 passengers. Its fourth aircraft will be delivered next month.

The agreements are with five leading leasing companies, including Jetstar Japan shareholders Mitsubishi Corporation (through MC Aviation Partners), which will lease five aircraft, and Century Tokyo Leasing, which will lease six aircraft.

GE Capital Aviation Services, Hong Kong Aviation Capital and Jackson Square Aviation are lessors for six, four and three aircraft respectively.

Chief Executive Officer of Jetstar Japan, Miyuki Suzuki, said finalising lease agreements for its fleet so early on reflected positive market sentiment towards Jetstar Japan?s prospects.

?It?s unique for a start-up airline to have completed such a large and complex set of transactions prior to the first flight and it?s a credit to the lessors we have selected,? said Ms Suzuki. ?Our lessors understand the value of the Jetstar brand, our strategy and our business model and are excited to be part of the success of the new airline.?

Before its first flight Jetstar Japan had sold well in excess of 100,000 fares. The airline will be operating up to 26 flights a day by the end of August 2012 and is planning to introduce international flights during 2013.

Three Signs You Can Benefit From Personal Training in Wakefield ...

Of all the reasons that people hire personal trainers, these three right here could be the most telling when it comes to people who should be frequenting health centers and seaboard gyms. Because of the unique mix of people that attend school and live here in the North Raleigh area, fitness is often looked at as something a person can do at home.

But because of this ?do-it-yourself? attitude towards Wakefield gyms, many people are coming up against these three common problems. If you can relate to any of these issues, it may be time to seriously consider looking into personal trainers in North Chatham, Wakefield, Raleigh or any other areas in the Triangle.

Due to the large selection of health clubs in North Raleigh, fitness programs and personal trainers in North Carolina aren?t exactly hiding from you, but just to make it even easier for you, we?ve provided a link at the end of this article to help you out.

How Do I Know If I Need A Personal Trainer?

The Triangle?s Top 3 Reasons

1. You?re Working Out, But Not Seeing Any Results

If you?re not seeing the results that you expected to see even though you?ve been using exercise routines that you may have torn out of a fitness magazine or seen on television, you could be in serious need of a personal trainer. Wakefield gyms will be able to provide you with the reasons you aren?t seeing results, whether it?s because you?re doing the wrong exercises for your body type, you can?t seem to get the definition or tone you desire or if it just seems as the only thing your workout is producing is a sweat.

Factors like body type, age and sex play a big role in reaching personal goals and a personal trainer can help you figure out the right types of exercises that will allow you to reach those goals.

2. You Have No Clue How to Start a Workout Program

Some people may have no clue how to get started with an exercise routine and that?s perfectly okay. Because of all the competing options out there between workouts that target your arms, workouts that target your butt and workouts that target everything all at once, it can be very confusing for someone just starting out in the world of fitness to figure out the proper routine.

Instead of getting frustrated to the point of never starting, why not find out what personal training in Wakefield can do for you?

3. Working Out Is Starting to Become Tedious and Boring

Sometimes, after long bouts of working out with exercises and routines that have worked for you in the past, even though you may still be seeing results, it?s easy to become bored with the same old schedules. For those of you who need a change of pace, personal training can provide you with that needed jolt of energy that can boost your exercises back to the high-octane levels they used to be.

With motivated individuals showing you exciting new techniques using different machines and equipment, adding the spice back into your workout routine may be just what the doctor ordered.

Finding A Complimentary Personal Training Session In Wakefield

If any of the above reasons sound like you, click here right now for a free personal training session at one of the many O2 health clubs around North Raleigh. Fitness has never been so fun?and easy!
