From the Bride? Ryan and I wanted our wedding to be uniquely our own. We found a gorgeous winery about an hour from where we live in a place called Mount Mee. The vineyards were dreamy, the owners were incredible and restaurant was picture perfect. For the ceremony, we were really searching for a blank canvas, as space that we could transform into that dream area that we wanted to exchange our vows. There are some beautiful homes in Mount Mee, so I decided to do a letter box drop with a small note asking residents if we would be able to marry in their garden. To my delight, I received a phone call about three weeks later from the most wonderful woman, who I hold responsible for making my husband?s dreams come true. She explained that they had been collecting their friend?s mail and saw my note and then asked if we would like to wed in their garden. When we saw their property for the first time we were completely gobsmacked. It was the perfect space and had the most amazing view of the Glass House Mountains hinterland with the ocean in the back ground. It looked like a painting.?

We decided on a theme of classic elegance with a rustic twist but we also wanted to make sure that it was personal to us. We worked closely with our florist to create a beautiful ceremony space with a gorgeous floral arch and aisle flowers featuring peasant?s feathers. The florist also did a wonderful job with the reception which included lots of twisted willow and glass hanging balls filled with tea light candles and flowers. Ryan and I put a lot of effort into our wedding and made a lot of the most prominent features ourselves, including wooden slabs for the centerpieces to sit on, menus, table number, petal cones, place seating cards sat in wine corks and signage for the ceremony. Our invitations were created by one of my bridesmaids and featured a custom-designed Sullivan crest, which was replicated by Ryan?s Auntie on our wedding cake. The wedding cake also copied the same embroidery featured on my wedding dress, so it was kept a secret from Ryan.?

My father walked me down the aisle to the sound of violins playing my favorite classical song, Pachelbel?s ?Canon in D.? The ceremony was so intimate and relaxed. Our vows were very traditional, so we had the celebrant read aloud a list of things we had told her we loved about each other. We did not share these things with each other beforehand, so it was a really wonderful moment when we read them out. There are so many moments from the day that I adore: the moment before I walked down the aisle, when all the girls went quiet and the air felt like magic, Ryan?s surprise lift during our first kiss, walking hand in hand around the lake feeling so humble and grateful for such a wonderful day, watching my husband as he made his speech to our guests. To me, our wedding was wonderful, and given the chance, I actually wouldn?t do it again because I am so happy and content that our day was everything we wanted.
